The #1 world’s leading instrument to diagnose and change organizational culture for over 40 years.
The #1 world’s leading instrument to diagnose and change organizational culture for over 40 years.
The Organizational Culture Assessment Instrument (OCAI)™ is the most frequently used instrument for assessing organizational culture in the world today. Developed over 40 years ago, the instrument has been used by more than 10,000 organizations and taken by 24+ million respondents. The OCAI™ is based on the Competing Values Framework (CVF)™. The Organizational Culture Assessment Instrument (OCAI)™ identifies an organization’s current and preferred culture to facilitate culture change.
The OCAI™ is based on the Competing Values Framework (CVF)™, named as one of the Top 40 most important frameworks in the history of business (Have, S. T. Key Management Models. Financial Times Prentice Hall, 2003). The instrument is composed of six categories of questions comprised of four alternatives each. The OCAI™ has been used by numerous researchers in studies of thousands of organizations testing and demonstrating the reliability and validity of the instrument in the course of their analyses (see Quinn and Spreitzer, 1999; Yeung, Brockbank, and Ulrich, 1991; Zammuto and Krakower, 1991; Cameron and Freeman, 1991).
OCAI™ 6 DIMENSIONS OF CULTURE
The OCAI™ is administered via our online survey platform for a fee. Email our OCAI™ product director at [email protected] to get started!
We can customize the survey to add demographic or other subgroup questions, or specific commentary questions. We highly recommend including subgroups, such as Department, Location, Tenure, Title, etc., to identify and compare subcultures in your organization.
OCAI™ results are plotted on the Competing Values Framework (CVF)™ quadrant chart and show the current culture and preferred future culture for the overall organization and for each sub-respondent group.
The Cameron Institute offers consulting services to provide a deep-dive analysis of your culture results, customized recommendations, and next steps based on these results. We can provide virtual or in-person presentations of your culture profile and recommendations to your leadership team or the entire organization.
The Cameron Institute can further assist to your leadership team to develop a culture change plan and execute that plan to successfully change to your preferred culture. Email [email protected] to discuss these services!

In order to move something to where you want it to be, you first need to understand where it is. The OCAI™ enables organizations to understand their current culture and discover their ideal or preferred culture. Cameron Institute can then apply its research-based cultural change system to assist leadership in developing a culture change plan and executing that plan to successfully transition to your preferred culture.
