POSITIVE LEADERSHIP

The #1 Research-Backed Leadership Model That Produces Extraordinary Results

Positive Leadership is a component of a relatively new field in organizational behavior called Positive Organizational Scholarship (POS). POS is concerned primarily with the study of especially positive outcomes, processes, and attributes of organizations and their members. POS is distinguished from traditional organizational studies in that it seeks to understand what represents and approaches the best of the human condition (Cameron, Dutton, Quinn 2003).

Producing extraordinarily high performance, generating positively deviant results, and creating remarkable vitality in the workplace are the primary objectives of positive leadership.

POSITIVE LEADERSHIP RESULTS ACHIEVED

Extensive research confirms that leaders are vital in effecting the performance of organizations and their employees. In fact, between 20 and 70 percent of the variance in an organization’s performance is attributable to leadership behavior (Thomas, A. 1988, Cameron, K. S. 2012). No other factor – culture, strategy, processes, incentive systems – is as important (Thomas, A. 1988, Lieberson, S., & O’Connor , J. 1972). Positive Leadership has demonstrated empirically to have significant favorable impacts on organizations as well as individuals (Cameron, K. S. & Spreitzer, G. M. 2012):

ASSESSMENTS

  • PHASE 2: The Positive Practices Survey™ assesses the extent to which individuals are displaying positively energizing behaviors at work. This information can be used for developmental and coaching purposes as well as for self-improvement.

  • PHASE 2: The Positive Leadership Energy Assessment™ is a quick and simple way to evaluate positively energizing leaders in an organization (Owens et al., 2016). Employees rate their leader on five attributes using a 7-point Likert scale. Aggregating the responses of employees in a particular business unit or team provides a mean score. The instrument is very helpful when an organization needs a quick way to determine the extent to which employees are being positively energized by their leader.

  • PHASE 2: The most sophisticated method for identifying positive energizers in an organization is by creating a Positive Energy Network Map™ which not only visually shows the leaders and individuals who have the most energizing connections, but also produces data and information to inventory the relative amount of energizing that is occurring in the organization.

  • PHASE 4: A pulse survey is intended to monitor the overall energy levels of an organization over time. If energy scores are changing – either up or down – the pulse survey plot can help guide diagnoses regarding what is going well, what factors are affecting scores, and what impact this has on bottom-line results.
